International labour standards Related Activities in MDTs

The ILO's multidisciplinary teams work around the world to improve the implementation of international labour standards and assist the ILO's constituents in matters relating to the international labour standards system

The ILO's multidisciplinary teams listed above have international labour standards specialists assigned to them. They, and other members of the teams, are engaged in a range of activities closely related to international labour standards and the international labour standards system.


The promotion of human rights and the ratification of fundamental conventions

Providing advisory services and drafting technical notes, conducting seminars for the promotion of ratification of fundamental Conventions, disseminating promotional information.


Constitutional obligations

Providing assistance with regard to the preparation of reports on ratified and unratified Conventions and Recommendations and the submission of new instruments to the competent national authorities.


Labour legislation

Including ensuring that fundamental rights are protected in new and revised legislation, promoting mechanisms for tripartite consultations and identifying obstacles to the ratification of ILO Conventions, harmonisation of labour legislation with ratified Conventions.


Country objectives

Including cooperation with ILO Area Offices in the preparation of country objectives, with the intention of ensuring all due attention to Fundamental Conventions, as well as to others identified (in particular through ratification) as a national priority and seeking means of remedying the problems noted by the supervisory bodies.


Social dialogue and activities of the social partners

Including promotional activities on international labour standards specifically designed for the concerns of workers' and employers' groups.


Gender issues

Participating in national and regional tripartite seminars, and integration of gender perspectives into ILO programmes and activities.


Child labour

Including promotional activities for the ratification of Conventions Nos. 138 and 182, national consultations, seminars and legislative activity.


International Labour Conference

Assisting constituents with standards related information at the Conference, consultation on the portfolio of proposals for new standards.
