South-East Asia and the Pacific Multidisciplinary Advisory Team
The ILO's South-East Asia and the Pacific Multidisciplinary Advisory Team (SEAPAT) was established in Manila, Philippines in 1994.
SEAPAT helps governments, workers' and employers' organizations to formulate, launch, implement and evaluate policies, measures, programmes and projects, through technical cooperation activities and research to advance democracy, to fight poverty and to protect working people.
SEAPAT collaborates also with universities, research bodies and non-government organizations in varying activities and issues its major findings in different forms of research publications, working papers and presentations.
At present, SEAPAT has specialist positions covering the following fields:
- International Migration
- Vocational Training
- Small Enterprise and Management Development
- Worker's Activities
- Economics and Gender
- International Labour Standards
Specialists on Employers' Activities and Industrial Relations will join SEAPAT at the beginning of year 2000.
ILO Conventions and Recommendations inspire all of SEAPAT's advice and assistance.
Countries, which ratify ILO Conventions, are bound by the standards they contain.
