FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES AND RIGHTS AT WORK IN MACAU

Although Macau is part of China it maintains the ILO Conventions it applied prior to the changeover. Macau applies 30 ILO Conventions. It has ratified all but one of the 8 ILO Fundamental Conventions, including the conventions on freedom of association and collective bargaining. ILO sponsored a workshop in January 2002 to improve the reporting capacity of government officials.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN AND MEN TO SECURE DECENT EMPLOYMENT IN MACAU

ILO continues to work with its tripartite constituents in Macau to increase employment opportunities. Pending projects include an ILO workshop on vocational training.

COVERAGE AND EFFECTIVENESS OF SOCIAL PROTECTION IN MACAU

ILO continues to work toward improving the working conditions of workers. Projects include a training workshop for OSH inspectors.

TRIPARTISM AND SOCIAL DIALOGUE IN MACAU

ILO continues to provide assistance and expertise to it tripartite constituents in Macau on strengthening social dialogue on economics, employment, vocational training, labour market and social policy at national, regional and local levels. ILO also provides training on mediation, negotiation and labour relations.
